Barbara Jean Kurtz Morris, 69, of Stanford, died Saturday, March 16, at her home.  

Born July 12, 1943, in Danville, Barbara was a daughter of the late Ben and Lola Christerson Kurtz. She was a licensed practical nurse/Human Resources manager having worked at Fort Logan Hospital, Dr.'s Bates, Crase and Click in Stanford and Dr. Julian Hardaway in Danville and at Trim Master for several years. Barbara was a former member of the Lincoln County Homemakers and had served as a Cub Scout den mother, a 4-H leader, and for the Fort Harrod Area 4-H as a counselor. She was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Kurtz; and three sisters, Evelyn Cox, Mable Reynolds and Martha Guinn.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Wendell Morris of Stanford; two sons, Jeff Morris of Stanford and Scott Morris of Lexington; two brothers, Homer (Eudell) Kurtz  of Danville and Ben (Theresa) Kurtz, Jr. of Lexington; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Rachel, Jessica and Christopher Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today (March 21) at Spurlin Funeral Home with Revs. Lewis Walter and Brad King officiating.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Jonathan Morris, Michael Kurtz, Chase Broach, Ashley Poynter, Ronald Jones and Dick Jones. Honorary pallbearers are Karen Ping, Dee Click, Lori Collier, Trish Claunch, Bonnie James and Gwen Pyle.

 Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the American Cancer Society.
