Isabel Oaks Carter, 87, of Pine Grove Road, Stanford, passed away Friday, Feb. 22, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
Born Sunday, Aug. 2, 1925, in Lincoln County, Isabel was a daughter of the late Cloyd Thomas Oaks, Sr. and Isabel Pence Oaks. She graduated from the Danville School of Nursing and worked as an LPN for Dr. Julian Wright and at the Kentucky State Hospital. Isabel attended Pine Grove Church of Christ and served as a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and reading. Isabel was the widow of William E. Carter, Sr., who preceded her in death on July 22, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Leonard Harlan Oaks; a sister, Edna Jean Saylor; and son-in-law, David Ferguson.
Survivors include a son, William E. Carter, Jr. of Stanford; a daughter, Claudia Jean Ferguson of Frankfort; one brother, Cloyd Thomas (Linda) Oaks, Jr. of Louisville; and two grandsons, Allen Carter Ferguson and William Tyler Carter.
Funeral services were Feb. 26, at Fox Funeral Home in Stanford with Rick Estes officiating. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were William E. Carter, Jr., Jeffrey and Trevor Stickler, Shaun Wilder, Wayne Oaks and Cloyd Thomas Oaks III.
