James Milton Irvin, 80, of  died Friday Feb. 22, at the Rockcastle Hospital. 

Born April 3, 1932, in Broughtontown, James was a son of the late Blueford and Minnie Poynter Irvin. He was a farmer and a retired employee of Gulf States Paper Company.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, George, Sam, Shelby and Grant Irvin; three sisters,  Grace, Mayme and Bridgette.

Survivors include his wife  of 58 years, Arlene Bryant Irvin, who he married Sept. 16, 1955; six children, Jimmy (Mary Ann) Irvin, Eddie (Tracy) Irvin, Wayne (Tammy) Irvin, Charlene Higgins (friend, Randy Bishop), Cindy (Mike) Ross and Linda Irvin (friend, Rob Lewis); one brother,  Robert Irvin; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Feb. 26 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Gordon Mink officiating. Burial was in  Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jimmy, Eddie and Wayne Irvin, James Layton, Cody Ross  and Jonathan Higgins. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Ross, Travis Ross, Buddy Pearson and Joe Clark.
