Lorine Holderman (December 4, 2011)

Lorine Young Holderman, 97, of Lexington, formerly of Stanford, passed away Monday, March 11, at Hospice Care Center at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington. 

Born Monday, Jan. 24, 1916, in Lincoln County, Lorine was a daughter of the late David E. Young, Sr. and Mary Thompson Young.  She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God on Logan Avenue in Stanford. Throughout her lifetime, she worked at Young’s Grocery in Stanford and as an LPN for Fort Logan Hospital. In her spare time, she loved painting and gardening. Lorine will always be remembered for thinking of others above herself. She was the widow of Henry Merritt “Bud” Holderman, who preceded her in death on April 6, 1972. 

She was also preceded in death by two brothers, W.T Young and David E. Young, Jr.; and four sisters, Viola Crotinger, Della Russell, Ada Ellen Young and Anna Elizabeth Adams. 

Survivors include one sister, Ottie Marie Daugherty of Perry, Ga.; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews; several great-great nieces and nephews; and several great-great-great nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were March 13 at Fox Funeral Home with Dr. J. Harold Harness officiating. Burial was in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. 

Active pallbearers were Scott Montgomery, Victor Young, Jr., Steve Patterson, Bruce Young, Ron Fey and David Adams.
