Mattie Lee Epperson, 86, of Eubank, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, at her residence.
Born May 11, 1926, in Bobtown, Mattie was a daughter of the late Joseph Finmore and Arvelia Faye Weaver Denney. She was a farmer and a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. Mattie loved gardening, sewing and quilting, but most of all she loved her family.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ellsworth Epperson, whom she married on Dec. 22, 1942; one son, Lucian Ellsworth Epperson, who died at birth; son-in-law, Bobby Todd; four brothers, George, Everett, Avery and Chester Denney; and two sisters, Zella Mae Denney Hughes and Mary Susan Denney McKinzey.
Survivors include two children, Janice Jean Epperson Todd of Eubank and Lonnie Joe (Teresa) Epperson of Somerset; eight grandchildren, Anita Bray, Vickie (Robby) McFerron, Brad (Lauren) Epperson, Chris Epperson, Joseph Epperson, Austin Roy, William Hislope and Thomas Hislope; five great-grandchildren, Brittany Bray, Brian Bray, Jacob McFerron, Rayden Epperson and Bailey Epperson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Feb. 22, at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill with Bros. Arnold Larkin and James McDonald officiating. Burial was in Goodhope Cemetery.
