Newland E. Hester, 74, of Hackett, Ark., formerly of Stanford, died Saturday, Feb. 23.
Born Nov. 12, 1938, in Stanford, Newland was a son of the late James "Red" and Corine Bastin Hester. He retired from Whirlpool Manufacturing, was an Army veteran and a member of Stanford F¿&¿AM Lodge #60 and the Rock Island Freewill Baptist Church, Spiro, Okla. He was an Oleika Shriner.
Survivors include his wife, Therisa Carter Hester; sons, Mark (Gina) Douglas and Rick Douglas; daughter, Teresa Hester (Greg) Garner; and a brother, Rhodes (Marilyn) Hester.
Visitation will be Friday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Spurlin Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 9 in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
