Ollie Eugene “Gene” Southerland, 76, of Maxey Valley, died Thursday, June 21, at home.
Born July 13, 1935, in Casey County, Gene was a son of the late Lewis Southerland and Mary Etta Rayborn Southerland. He was a retired mechanic.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Effie Southerland; daughters, Linda Douglas, Bonnie (Curtis) Evans, Glenda (Paul) Smith and Kathy Southerland; one son, Michael (Debbie) Southerland; sisters, Margaret Maxey and Pat (Joe) McCowan; eight grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services were June 26 at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home with Bro. James Harley officiating. Burial was in Hustonville Cemetery.
