On the afternoon of May 22nd, I heard the Rescue squad called to the medical clinic on Main St. in Crab Orchard. The rescue squad arrived in approx. 2 minutes. a short time later the call went out for a medi-vac helicopter.

I might ad that we have a good rescue squad for such a small town. I can say this as my family has used it more than once over the year, and I thank all the men and women who work on it. approx. 16 minutes later the medi-vac helicopter was landing just down from my house.

I am so thankful that we now have that service available, and I know it saves a lot of lives. The helicopter was there and gone in no time with the patient. not long after that I heard one of the rescue squad personell tell the 911 dispatcher in Stanford to write in the log that the owner of the recycling center had come out and told them that he did not appreciate them landing the helicopter in the entrance, blocking his business, keeping his customers out.

I guess the time has come "for some at least" that few penny's worth of pop cans is worth more than a human life. at anytime the rescue squad needs to use my driveway or land the helicopter in my yard, they are more than welcome, as I live just up the road from the junk yard. "Excuse me recycling center."
