We are losing the America I grew up in. We need to look at what we have done and should be doing differently. Responsibility, knowing right from wrong, and hard work used to be the way to attain the “American Dream”. My, how times have changed! Now we want to “have it all”, without “earning it all”.
We now put Greed before God, criticism before civility, “free” before “freedom”, materialism before morals. We accept lies and corruption because “that’s how Washington does it”.
We’ve become an angry, divided nation. We don’t direct that anger towards people doing us wrong or taking away our freedoms, but at each other because someone has a different opinion than ours.
We’ve become lazy . We settle for poverty over prosperity, throwing away our pride, because we’re given “ free“ things.
We tell other nations how to their lives, without looking at how we’re running ours. We give money to nations who hate us, trying to win friendship, while our own suffer in poverty and ill-health. We’ve become a laughing stock, only known for handouts.
We are slowly being stripped of our liberties in the name of “Homeland Security”, while we welcome people who come to our country illegally. We have become a nation of takers rather than givers. “If you’ve got more, I want some. Give it to me. I don’t want to earn it.”
We are a nation with a severe drug problem so now we’re legalizing marijuana? We should be ashamed!
Ronald Reagan said, “When we stop being ‘One Nation Under God’, we’ll be a nation gone under”. It’s also been said, “When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging”. Americans, it’s time we “stop digging”, otherwise we WILL be that nation “gone under”.
We are losing, America! My only regret is the mess being left to our children and grandchildren. Sorry kids.. I guess you need to figure out how to get back our once great nation. You can still reach the “American Dream”, and it’s much more gratifying when it’s not given to you!
