James Melvin "Moon" Mullins, 86, of Crab Orchard, passed away Sunday, July 15, at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.

Born April 5, 1926, in Wheelwright, Jim was a son of the late Wallace B. and Rosie Johnson Mullins. He was a retired truck driver from  Burton Truck Lines and a World War II Army Air Force veteran with the rank of sergeant. Jim was the widower of Virginia  (Coldiron) Mullins whom preceded him in death on May 2, 2007.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Peanut Mullins; and sisters, Sarah Baker and Mary Bennnett.

Survivors include two sons, Roy (Barbara) Mullins of Dona Vista, Fla., and  Ralph (Teresa) Mullins of Nicholasville; two daughters, Rita (Randall) Perry of Broughtontown and Reva (Glen) Miller of Moreland; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were July 18 at McKnight Funeral Home in Crab Orchard with Bro. Allen Peevler officiating. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Caswell Saufley Post #18 of Stanford and The Patriot Guard Riders of Kentucky.

Active pallbearers were Gary Oder, Jason Lawrence, Tim Woods, Jeff and Varner Mullins and Danny Ray Coldiron.
