More than a 130 filled up the Community Arts Center Thursday night for the premiere of Stanford Star Search, the successor to last year's wildly popular Lincoln County Idol.
The local competition functions like many music-based reality television shows, with musicians performing and vying for the audience's and judge's votes.
High vote-getters get to move on to future rounds, while those with few votes are at risk of dropping out.
Stanford Star Search will be held 7-9 p.m. every Thursday through the end of April, except for a spring break on April 4.
Admission is $5 and includes voting privileges.
The March 14 episode will feature country songs.
