Brown got lead off Billy Joe Bryington to pop out and, after walking Blevins, he got Jarred Payne to hit into a force out. Leigh gloved the grounder at short and flipped it to Pemberton who got the tag on Bryington at second, then Pemberton threw to Dylan King at first to complete the double-play and end the game.

“The funny thing is those boys work on those things constantly,” McNew said of the double-play. “What a way to end the ball game. We work on that stuff and they do it all the time. It was perfect. There couldn’t be a better way to end the game.”

McNew is hoping to pull off a few more perfect endings before he throws the towel in on the season.

“I’m not finished yet,” said McNew. “We’ve got to come out and beat Danville and then we’ve got to do some more winning at region.”
