  15. Editorial: Kentucky cannot afford to wait for strong pill mill legislation

    On April 12, lawmakers will assemble for the last day of the 60-day session. While the General Assembly concluded the bulk of its work before leaving Frankfort last Friday, it left one of the most critical pieces of legislation for our state and communities uncompleted.  The General Assembly has yet to pass House Bill 4, commonly referred to as the pill mill bill. The measure, which would provide oversight of pain clinics and greater monitoring of prescription drug abuse, has strong bipartisan support in both chambers and from the Governor.  In addition, city officials from every corner of our state have advocated for passage of this legislation as essential to protecting the quality of life in our communities.
