  15. Governor Nixon signs law on tuberculosis screening

    &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Gov. Jay Nixon has signed legislation requiring all Missouri colleges and universities to develop screening programs for tuberculosis.&nbsp; The bill provides for targeted testing to identify those at high risk for latent infection and for developing the disease. It also would determine those who would benefit from treatment. &nbsp;The measure was one of several signed by the governor Wednesday.&nbsp; Another bill will let pharmacists dispense a small, emergency dose of prescription medicine if the prescribing doctor is unavailable. The pharmacist must believe that depriving a patient of the medication would cause health problems, and the medication cannot be a controlled substance.&nbsp;&nbsp; Other legislation signed Wednesday includes a designation of May as "Motorcycle Awareness Month" in Missouri.
