    Two weeks ago, I was transferred. I left our Salida hospital for the big university hospital in Denver via a four and a half-hour ride in an ambulance. It was about 4 p.m. before they loaded me onto a hard, too-short gurney, during which time something deep in the mountains caused my blood pressure to be 190 over 85, causing some worry for the two paramedics as well as for me.
