A Franklin County, Pa., jury this week found Johnny Ray Sumner Jr., 21, guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and four other charges.Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 14, according to a news release from the Franklin County (Pa.) District Attorney’s Office.
Sumner, whose residence is listed as Chambersburg in court documents, was accused of raping a 6-year-old girl at a homeless shelter. He was also accused of other sexual offenses, the release said.
Because of the age and nature of the case, the child testified via closed-circuit television, the release said.
Sumner was convicted Monday of five counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, attempted aggravated indecent assault of a child, and indecent assault.
Judge Douglas Herman presided over the trial.
