    Nearly all dogs enjoy having a job to do. Through the centuries, dogs have been sheep and cattle herders as well as protectors of the flocks. They have been guardians of the home and surrounding land, and they have been hunters (and not all hunt prey; some hunt truffles and other delicacies). As people moved into cities, they took their dogs with them, but in urban areas, there wasn’t much work for dogs to do.
