Another week of the college football season offers several key match-ups:
Mid-American Championship
No. 21 Northern Illinois vs. No. 17 Kent State
When: Friday
Where: Ford Field; Detroit, Mich.
Time: 7 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN2
The Buzz: It’s hard to believe, but a Bowl Championship Series spot could be on the line in this one. The winner of this game could find itself in the Orange Bowl thanks to a clause that says a BCS bowl must select a team from a non-automatic qualifying conference if it finishes in the top 16 of the standings. Kent State has the best shot to finish in the top 16 after a win, while Northern Illinois is a longshot for BCS bid if it wins.
Pac-12 Championship
When: Friday
Where: Stanford Stadium; Stanford, Calif.
Time: 8 p.m. ET
TV: Fox
The Buzz: These two teams won’t have to spend a lot of extra time preparing for each other. They faced each other last week in a game Stanford won 35-17. The Cardinal has been playing really good football as of late, winning six straight including victories over three top 25 foes. The winner of this one earns a spot in the Rose Bowl, while the loser is most likely headed to the Alamo Bowl.
Southeastern Conference Championship
No. 2 Alabama at No. 3 Georgia
When: Saturday
Where: Georgia Dome; Atlanta, Ga.
Time: 4 p.m. ET
