1. Learning in a post-9/11 world

Ten years ago, I was a seventh grader at St. Paul School sporting a blue and white plaid uniform skirt and an Oxford blouse. My concerns were how many times my mom would take me to the ice rink that week, whether I would get elected to student council again and how I could become the first woman president. That was my ultimate goal then, and I had pictured many times the day I won the election, along with my mom’s proud face as she watched me give my acceptance speech.

  15. A Different Angle: They really need to make the right cuts

I am not the type of person who is very active in politics. So long as I have running water, trash pickup, bridges that work and satellite TV, I’m a happy citizen. But this winter, the wife and I went to Washington, D.C., to see the national Christmas tree.
