  1. Federal budget is "March Madness"

    Contributing Columnist
Congressional leaders have not passed a federal budget in four years and have continued to kick the can down the road with continuing resolutions rather than solve America’s spending and debt problems. If major corporations operated in that manner,...

  3. GUEST COLUMN: The VP is just a heartbeat away

    Contributing Writer
Every four years there’s a big to-do in the media about whom the Democratic or Republican candidate is going to choose for his running mate. Of course, the incumbent president usually goes with his incumbent vice president. Their choices are of...

  5. Having it both ways: Congress wants to blame Panetta for their failure to fund DoD

Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta dumped the issue of budget cuts back where it belonged, in Congress’ lap, after receiving harsh criticism to his plans to steeply cut military manpower this week. Panetta told lawmakers critical of his plans to...

  7. McCain puts the coal to the crazy train

This editorial almost didn’t get written, that is until Monday’s U.S. Senate debate over text inserted  in the 2012 Defense Authorization Act by Senator John McCain (R-Ariz) giving the Executive Branch unasked for authority to use military...

  9. McConnell: Guantanamo is the place to try terrorists

Speaking to a crowd of lawyers in Washington last week, Attorney General Eric Holder made an audacious claim about the war on terrorism. Overlooking the all-volunteer military force that has heroically battled terrorists and insurgents for nearly a decade, our outstanding intelligence and counterterrorism experts, and many others, Holder asserted that America’s “most effective terror-fighting weapon” is its civilian court system.

  11. Don't look back in anger

After a decade of hunting for him, Osama bin Laden is dead; shot in the head by a sailor. Oddly, instead of happily moving on, there are many calling for our government to release one or all of the photos of the deceased terrorist which is troubling. There are only three reasons I can think of that someone would want to see a picture of bin Laden’s hydrostatically deformed melon: the need for physical proof that the terrorist is dead, a need for revenge or prurient interest.

  13. Life Out Here: Hillary vs. The Angry Koala

If there is proof that Hillary Clinton was incompetent, indifferent or conspiratorial, or any combination of the aforementioned, in the Benghazi attack and subsequent scandal, she should never again be given serious consideration as a presidential candidate.

  15. Welcome to the 'Stop Hillary Clinton' hearing

"Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the most powerful woman of them all?"
"Mirror, mirror, on the wall. Who's the most powerful woman of them all?" No doubt about it. Not Queen Elizabeth, Angela Merkel or Oprah Winfrey. The most powerful woman on the planet is former first lady, former senator from New York, former...

  17. Pentagon reports sharp rise in military sexual assaults

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon estimated that 26,000 members of the military were sexually assaulted in unreported incidents last year — 35% more than in 2010 — a severe trend that senior officials warned could threaten recruiting and retention of women in uniform.

  23. Tilting Syria

President Barack Obama painted himself into a corner last summer when he said Syrian President Bashar Assad's use of chemical weapons against rebel forces would be a "red line for us." Now there's evidence that chemical weapons have been used in Syria, and Obama is trying to extricate himself from the corner.
