3. Having a savior is good, but....

One of the most familiar phrases of Christian faith can be heard as expressed by those who are repetitive by nature. We hear it as they intone; “He is my Lord and Savior.” Too often, what is meant by that declaration centers more on the Savior aspect than upon the Lord comprehension.

  7. The tradition, the tomb, the testimony

Tradition is normally part of many family gatherings and it is also true of nations. Habits and stories are passed down from one generation to the next and the expected responses are generated by what is fact and sometimes lore, but meaningful evaluations of past history are kept as valid evidence of what transpired in the past.

  11. Simply the Bible: Prayer, more than a checklist

Let’s take a look at Matthew 6, and what the Lord taught His disciples. They could have asked Him how to teach, how to heal, or how to ... etc ... etc. but they didn’t. Of all they could have asked Him, they asked Him how to pray. Why? Because out of all they saw and heard, they were most moved by the importance Jesus gave to prayer. Therefore, if He prayed, so should we.

  13. Faith: It's personal

John 4:27-42: At this point, Jesus’ disciples came, and they marveled that He talked with a woman; yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You talking with her?” The disciples marveled, Jesus not only brought them through Samaria, sent them out for lunch, but now speaks with a woman. Rabbis were known to say, “It is better for the law to be burned than to deliver them to a woman!” Jesus did not agree with that prejudiced thinking. He broke through all the boundaries to speak with this lost Samaritan woman.

  17. In your everyday life

Our lives are filled with events that mark the calendars of our life journey. We get married, have a child, or maybe have a debilitating auto accident. These events are life-changing. They are not just everyday happenings, but things that often occur only once in our lives.

  23. SIMPLY THE BIBLE: Grow by reading and learning

The Gospel of John is unique. The Apostle John wrote this one-of-a-kind Gospel. Each of the Gospels was written with a specific group of people in mind. The Gospel of Matthew was written for the Jews, calling Jesus the King of the Jews, and it referenced the Old Testament Scriptures more than 100 times. The Gospel of Mark is what I like to call, “a hurry-up Gospel.” Believed to be written for the Romans, Mark writes the word “immediately” 37 times. The Gospel of Luke, a very detailed Gospel, is believed to be written to the Greeks.
