  5. Danville-Boyle County Humane Society Pets of the Week for Jan. 24

Our pets of the week are Mark and Cheri. Mark is a 7-month-old black and white cat. He has cute markings with a black spot on his nose and a black chin. Mark was brought to the shelter because his owner had "too many cats.” Mark is a very friendly boy, and he will make a great companion. We were told that Mark was born on the Fourth of July, 2011, and he's ready to be your buddy.

  11. The view from the Mountains: Groomed cat doesn¿t hold a grudge

It is 3:30 p.m. on a Thursday afternoon. It is cold outside, but the sun is out bright and tricks us into thinking it is much warmer, so when we drove to town we thought we didn’t need gloves or hats. I about froze, especially when we passed by the elementary school and saw all the local kids out on the playground with no coat on, much less a hat and gloves.

  21. Choosing the right family pet

Anytime you are considering buying a new pet, the selection process should include some research and preparation for the new arrival. This can help prevent some surprises and behavioral problems with the pet. Prior consultation with knowledgeable pet owners will help you select the best pet for your household, but also provide information on how to prepare in advance. Impulse buying or adopting a pet suddenly, without preparation, is never a good idea.
