  9. Mary Montgomery: Oct. 28, 1931 - April 8, 2012

    Mary Belle Canter Montgomery, 80, loving wife for 60 years of Harry G. Montgomery, of Little Hickman Road died Easter Sunday, April 8, at Royal Manor Nursing Home in Nicholasville. She was born in Jessamine County on Oct. 28, 1931, the sixth child of Lee and Edith Beulah Green Canter. She was a homemaker and farmer and retired in November 2003 after operating Montgomery Grocery for 32 years. She was a member of Wesley Chapel Methodist Church. In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Wayne and wife Melissa Waller Montgomery and Glenn and wife Charlene Wilson Montgomery of Jessamine County, and Virginia Montgomery and husband David West of Nicholasville; eight grandchildren, Ronald Glenn Montgomery Jr., David Kelly and wife Meghann West Jr., Justin Royse and wife Kerri Montgomery, Ryan Keith and wife Lori Montgomery, Alex Griffin West, Brandon Lee and wife Sandra Montgomery, Kyle Wilson and wife Laura Montgomery, and Mary Bethany West; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Rae, Charles Daniel, Bailey Ann, Anna Claire and Harper Frances Montgomery; two sisters, Virginia and husband Vernon Montgomery, and Marjorie and husband Ray Walden Carter; three sisters-in-law, Ida Ruth Canter, Faye Canter and Anna Jones Mullican; two brothers-in-law, John and wife Mary Nickell, and Isaac and wife Leona Montgomery; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Dorothy Lee Canter, Mildred Vickers and Ruth Nickell; and two brothers, A.G. Canter and Edmond Canter. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, at Betts &amp; West Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Visitation was from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday. Bearers were her eight grandchildren. Honorary bearers were her longtime friends from her store, Billy Teater, Doug Teater, Bobby Watts, Charles Hager and Gene Brooks. The Montgomery family would like to thank the congregation of Wesley Chapel and longtime friend Dorothy Carter for their thoughts, prayers and encouragement and the staff of Royal Manor Nursing Home for their loving care and dedication. <a href="http://www.bettsandwestfuneralhome.com/">www.BettsandWestfuneralhome.com</a>.
