  1. Prep Sports Q&A: KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett says some spring championship dates might be changing

Kentucky High School Athletic Association commissioner Julian Tackett was at both the state tennis and track and field championships last week and has taken an active role in trying to make changes to enhance championships in all sports for the state’s high school athletes. Obviously, he sometimes hears complaints — and did before the state track meet — and knows that input sometimes can be valuable.

  7. Vaught's Views: Spurrier knows paying players wouldn't work

It’s easy for South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier — and some other Southeastern Conference head football coaches — to say they would like to give $300 “out of their own pockets” to 70 players for each game during the season. That’s $21,000 a game and $294,000 a season if a team plays in 14 games, and for some big-time SEC coaches that’s like you or I choosing the dollar menu at a fast-food restaurant.

  23. UK Basketball Q&A: Martin Newton says it will be hard to leave Kentucky, Calipari

Martin Newton got calls from several friends telling him that the athletics director job at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala., was open and would he be interested.
