1. Battles setting up at fullback, kicker for Dolphins

Former Bears fullback Evan Rodriquez had to quickly get accustomed to his new surroundings. Rodriguez, who was claimed from the Bears off waivers on Tuesday, practiced with the Dolphins to compete for the starting fullback job against Jorvorskie Lane....

  5. Tim Tebow and Patriots, an unholy alliance? Well, it could work

Rich in parable, rife with prophesy, it is a transaction of biblical proportions. In hopes of saving his football soul, the NFL's most famously devout player is going to the dark side. Tim Tebow is joining hands with Bill Belichick. Kum-ba-yow!...

  11. Leach's exit continues veteran exodus, spurs more questions

As you come to grips to life without Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach, consider the following statement: Before this offseason, no NFL team had lost more than five Super Bowl starters from its roster before the following season.

  13. Could the Ravens' Super Bowl rings possibly be tackier?

Congratulations again to the Ravens for their Super Bowl victory, and I'm sure everyone is real proud, but do they really have to reward these guys with big, ugly "man rings" ("Ravens get their Super Bowl rings at private ceremony tonight," June 7). Were these things designed in a garage in New Jersey? I mean, c'mon, a ring on a man makes him look about as "classy" as Donald Trump or John Gotti. These jumbo sized rings they're giving out to our players are so hideously gaudy even Liberace would have been embarrassed to war one. I wonder, do they get matching floor length, sequin covered fur coats to go with those tacky rings?

  15. Ngata taking it slow this offseason as he recovers from knee sprain

As his fellow defensive linemen worked through various in-game situations at Ravens' minicamp Tuesday, Haloti Ngata remained mostly on the sidelines. The mammoth defensive tackle ran some sprints and performed a variety of stretches but he spent most of the workout off to the side watching his teammates.

  17. Ravens need more tough guys after cutting Vonta Leach

The Ravens released fullback Vonta Leach and I understand the logic. The Ravens have been under the salary cap gun since winning the Super Bowl in February, and they will save approximately $3 million by cutting Leach.

  19. Where did the Ravens rank in rookie snap counts?

Last season, the Ravens got meaningful contributions from a few rookies, including second-round draft picks Courtney Upshaw and Kelechi Osemele. But where did they rank in terms of snaps played by first-year players?

  21. Thoughts on JaMarcus Russell and the Ravens (potentially)

Could JaMarcus Russell, he of purple drank fame, soon be vying for a chance to throw passes in purple? According to ESPN, Russell told the Chicago Bears last week that he will try out for the Ravens. But league sources told our Aaron Wilson that no...

  23. Ravens news, notes and opinions

Having signed all their draft picks except first-rounder Matt Elam, having shored up their biggest perceived weakness with the signing of linebacker Daryl Smith and with very little salary cap room to do much else, it’s hard to imagine the Ravens being too active over the next five weeks before the start of training camp. However, something clearly has to be worked out with the status of Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach. As my colleague Aaron Wilson reported last week, the Ravens, who took Leach’s potential successor, Kyle Juszczyk, in the fourth round of April’s draft, are expected to craft a proposal to adjust his contract, which carries a $4.33 million salary cap hit for the coming season. Leach sounds like he is prepared for the situation, telling reporters last week that, “When the situation comes, I think we’ll take care of it.” The Ravens clearly love Leach as a player and as a leader. Without knowing how Juszczyk will handle lead-blocking duties in his rookie season, they believe that Leach, probably the best lead blocker in the game, has an important place on the team. However, they also could use a little more cap flexibility and Leach’s contract may be the most realistic place to get it. It sounds like the situation could come to a head shortly. Like Anquan Boldin, Leach is a proud guy and I’d imagine trying to convince him to take a pay cut is going to be a tough sell for Ozzie Newsome and company. But it behooves both sides to work something out.
