1. Ravens defense ends minicamp with impressive performance

It's not unusual for the defense to be ahead of the offense at this point, but it appears the Ravens have a chance to be special again.

3. Mike Preston's observations from Wednesday's workout

I never put a lot of stock in OTAs because the season is still a few months away and there could be some significant changes to the roster before the regular season opener. But here are a few casual observations from watching the first workout open to the media Wednesday....

5. At start of OTAs, who's there is far more important than who isn't

Who is there, or more appropriately, who isn’t? That undoubtedly will be the most popular question this week as the Ravens start the first of three sessions of organized team activities. The sessions will run from May 21 to 23, May 29 to 31 and June 4 to 6, leading into the mandatory veteran minicamp, which starts on June 11.

7. Versatility could be key in Ravens' crowded offensive line picture

Over the last couple of weeks, the Ravens have added and retained seven offensive linemen, further complicating what figures to be one of the more competitive -- if not interesting -- position battles in training camp.

9. DeCosta says Ravens haven't ruled out finding another wide receiver

Months after trading veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers following a contract dispute, the Ravens waited until the seventh round to draft a wide receiver.

11. Mike Preston: So far, so good for Ravens with Bryant McKinnie

So far, all is good as far as left offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie and the Ravens.
The Baltimore Sun
So far, all is good as far as left offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie and the Ravens. The word from The Castle is that the often-troubled McKinnie has been attending conditioning sessions and working hard. His weight is down and reasonable, and the...

13. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The common conclusion from the Ravens’ decision to re-sign Bryant McKinnie was that the organization wasn’t yet comfortable with the idea of Kelechi Osemele starting at left tackle. I’m sure there is plenty of truth to that even though team officials suggest that’s not the case. However, the reason why the McKinnie move was a no-brainer – at least in my mind – was that the Ravens couldn’t risk potentially weakening two positions along the offensive line. Osemele may very well develop into a quality left tackle in the NFL. However, who replaces Osemele at left guard? Osemele was dominant at times when he moved from right tackle to left guard for the playoff run. Could Jah Reid play at that high of a level? How about Ramon Harewood or fifth-round draft pick Rick Wagner? The Ravens’ offense made too many strides last year to start the coming season with a completely new pairing on the left side of the offensive

15. Michael Oher will still be under siege at right tackle

Even if Bryant McKinnie does not prove to be an upgrade over Michael Oher, his return to the Ravens and the left tackle position should at least strengthen the Ravens at left guard and right tackle, where Oher will likely play.

17. Dolphins sign OT Tyson Clabo, and add a former FAU linebacker

Sun Sentinel
The free agent market hasn't been kind to NFL veteran offensive linemen. Because the 2013 draft was filled with talented young linemen most of the tackles had to wait months, until after the draft, to get a deal done. Some offensive linemen are still...

19. Don't bet against Ravens on reclamation projects

Ten days before the NFL draft, the amazing transformation of the Ravens continues.
Ten days before the NFL draft, the amazing transformation of the Ravens continues. Rolando McClain is just the latest new piece of the puzzle. And I wouldn't bet he's the last free agent the Ravens sign, not with the team still $4.1 million under the...

23. The Ravens are suddenly young on the offensive line

Last summer, it looked as if the Ravens might enter the regular season with one of the oldest starting offensive lines in the NFL. Matt Birk, Bryant McKinnie and Bobbie Williams were all in their mid-thirties and expected to start. But as it turned out, both McKinnie and Williams started the season on the bench and only Birk played.
