  1. Obituary: William Denny Woodrum

    William Denny Woodrum, 66, was born May 9, 1945, in Liberty. On June 4, 2011, the angels took him home to be with his Lord.He is the son of Mary Elizabeth Scherrer (Bill) Hale and the late Owen Wildie “Dink” Woodrum. He is a 1963 graduate of Danville High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. He attended Immanuel Baptist Church and First Church of God. Denny served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and is retired from the Norfolk Southern Railway Company. He is a life member of the Perryville VFW and enjoyed golf, fishing and hunting.Denny is survived by his wife, Gloria Woodrum, of Danville; a sister, Margaret Ann Green, of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Owen Todd (Daphnie) Woodrum of Lincoln County; nieces and nephews, Marketta and Kelly Hazlett, Chris Hoover, Jessica Woodrum, Katie Woodrum and Nikki Woodrum; great-niece and great-nephews Zack (Autumn) Hazlett, Clark (Lisa) Hoover and Samantha Hoover; great-great-nieces and nephews Nathan Hazlett, Addison Hazlett and Kaden Hoover. He is also survived by Edward Walls, Mark and Michelle Walls and their children, Tesa, Carson, Tyler, Zach and Blake. The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Cox will officiate. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Clark Hoover, Zack Hazlett, Matthew Stamper, Fred Day, Charlie Clarkson and Glenn Hurt. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Building Fund of First Church of God.
