    The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) advises drivers several state roads are closed or restricted in East Central Pennsylvania because of weather issues caused by Hurricane Sandy.

    A Mertztown resident had a bit of an adventure this morning. Robert Hipp spotted a 3 foot-long alligator swimming in his outdoor fish pond. Hipp and his children managed to catch the gator, referred to as "Little Rocky" in the police release, and called State Police. The gator was taken to the Reading barracks.
