7. Loretta Lynn Cancels Due to Illness

Loretta Lynn has been forced to cancel one of her shows this coming weekend due to illness. The 76-year old won’t be taking the stage at Sunday’s Jamboree in the Hills in Ohio because she was recently admitted to the hospital for dehydration. Her home state of Tennessee has been experiencing extreme heat and this could have contributed to the legendary singer’s illness. Other country artists appearing at the Jamboree this weekend include Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Miranda Lambert.

  17. Dolly Parton follows her instinct to 'Better Day'

Don't get Dolly Parton started about end-of-the-world prognosticators. The Country Music Hall of Fame member was raised and remains devoutly religious, as she demonstrated so artfully in her biblically rooted classic song "Coat of Many Colors." But the firebrand singer, songwriter and businesswoman isn't remotely interested in giving an ounce of credence to doomsday scenarios espoused by mere mortals like Bay Area radio preacher Harold Camping.
