ORLANDO, Fla. – Notre Dame tight end Tyler Eifert has a big decision to make.
Thursday night, soaking in the frustration of an 18-14 Champs Sports
Bowl loss to 25th-ranked Florida State just wasn’t the right time.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the April NFL Draft is
Jan. 15, but Eifert would like to decided whether he’ll leave two
years of college eligibility on table long before then.
“There’s not much more information I can get to make a decision,” he
said standing outside the ND locker room at the Florida Citrus Bowl
Stadium. “I think I have pretty much everything I need. It’s just a
matter of what I personally want to do and figure it out.
“I’d like to figure out what I’m doing as soon as I can, but it’s not
really a decision to rush.”
Eifert had a game-high six catches for 90 yards for the offensively
challenged Irish (8-5) against the nation’s No. 4 scoring defense
Thursday night.
After a banner season in which he led the country in receptions for a
tight end, draft experts have projected Eifert to go in the first
couple rounds.
Good move?
