Thirlen F. Osborne, Lattimore, N.C., has retired as professor of English at Gardner-Webb College, Boiling Springs, N.C. A native of Winchester, Osborne served as editor of the college’s literary publication, “Reflections.” Osborne received his bachelor’s degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College and his master’s degree from the University of Kentucky. He has done additional graduate work at UK and the University of North Carolina.
Tammy Mason was named member of the year of the George Rogers Clark High School chapter of the Future Homemakers of America at the group’s annual meeting Thursday night. Whitney Estes received the Officer of the Year Award and Edith Graybill was made an honorary member. The club gave special recognition to its sponsors, Rebecca Farris, Sandy Baker, Mary Billups and Elsie Curry.
Natalie Brown, 5, will play Cinderella, and Nathan Bunch, 5, will play the prince during the Noah’s Ark Early Childhood Center presentation of “Cinderella.” The play, presented by the 5-year-olds, will be a three-act musical presented during the center’s graduation exercises.
