The Staff Parish Relations Team of Winchester First United Methodist Church is pleased to announce additional staff for children and family ministries.
Kathy Pitman has joined the staff as minister to children and families. Pitman served Mount Pisgah United Methodist Church in Atlanta as its Christian education director for eight years. During that time, the church grew from 1,000 to 5,000 members with a thriving children’s program. She also served as the director of children’s ministry at the 3,000-member Cross Bridge Community Church in Alpharetta, Ga. A native of Lexington, Pitman graduated from the University of Kentucky and Asbury Theological Seminary.
Also joining the staff is James Martin as children’s ministry coordinator. Martin has been involved in effective children’s and youth ministry in Winchester for more than 20 years. In addition to his ministry interests, he has served his country in the United States Army since 1994 and is currently a lieutenant colonel. The father of six children, Martin and his wife Keri adopted two girls from China. He holds a degree in economics from Eastern Kentucky University.
Both positions serve ages birth through fifth grade.
