Kentucky is great, but knock off the littering

I do not know who did the survey on Kentucky, but they sure did not ask me. In fact, I find it hard to believe this state was voted 49th as being the worst state in which to live.

Sure, I can see why some of the sunnier states received lots of votes, but I for one would not like to live where the weather is the same every day. That is boring to me.

Now, we all know the weather can change in an instant in Kentucky, but let’s face it, it does make for some good conversation. It is the changing of the seasons that I love about Kentucky. Each season has its own beauty and it gives you something to look forward to.

I feel I have some knowledge on Kentucky being the best state. I have traveled to 41 states and 20 countries, but I am always so happy to come back to my beloved Kentucky. While I have seen beauty around the world, there is very little that can equal Kentucky’s beauty.

Not only does it surpass in beauty, but I think we have the most wonderful people. To me, that is what makes the place beautiful. Other countries and states do not have the friendliness to strangers or the heartfelt love a true Kentuckian does.

I have also found that no matter where I go, people are intrigued by our dialect. There can be four distinct, different dialects in Kentucky, depending on the area in which you live. What other state has that? I guess I gravitate toward being Southern in Kentucky and, yes, I like my iced tea sweet.

There is one area of concern that I do have in Kentucky and that is the amount of littering that is going on. I believe there needs to be a crack down on the littering and the litterbugs who are doing the littering need to be the ones cleaning up our beautiful state.

Though my blood boils when I see the littering in Kentucky, as soon as the weather warms up a little I plan on walking my streets with a garbage bag. In the meantime, I hope I don’t see you throwing something out your window or I will get your license number and report you for littering.

I love Kentucky and I want it to stay beautiful for whomever enters our state. I am hoping parents and teachers are teaching the young people about littering. To me, only a bad citizen or lazy citizen does the littering and good citizens shouldn’t have to deal with the disregard to those who strive to do right.

I guess in closing I haven’t talked to anyone who has said they don’t like Kentucky. I am still wondering who these people are and either hope they go where they are happy or they get out and see Kentucky and experience it. This will either change their minds or else I think these people would be sad anywhere.

For me, I still want to buried in Kentucky blue. Blue moon of Kentucky keep on shining.
