John Bloomfield, a native of Winchester and a classically-trained pianist, will present a recital at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church to benefit the Winchester Council for the Arts. He first discovered piano when he was four and his mother was taking lessons. Now 33, Bloomfield currently works and studies in New York.

The St. George Hotel, which graced the corner of North Main and West Washington Streets since 1904, was demolished by the Saddler Construction Company Friday night to make room for the new United States Post Office.

The Winchester Youth Soccer League presented a $1,000 check to coach Rankin Skinner and players Colby Gaines, Jason Eades and John Bell to be used for the local soccer team’s tour of Ecuador in August.
