Witt graduates Vandy

Rachel G. Witt recently graduated from Vanderbilt University with departmental honors in anthropology. She is the daughter of Donna L. Witt of Mountain City Tenn., and the granddaughter of William L. and Louise W. Witt of Winchester.

Stocker wins KFSA scholarship

Conkwright Middle School student Shelby Stocker was recently named a 2012 Kentucky Middle School Association Region 5 scholarship winner. As one of the 16 eighth grade students to receive the award, Stocker will receive a $100 savings bond.
Students are selected based on a written application and must exemplify academic excellence, outstanding citizenship, a commendable attitude and leadership. The application includes an essay written by the student explaining how he or she exemplifies the traits advocated by KMSA and letters of recommendation from a current teacher and the school principal.  Also, the student’s grades, attendance, and conduct records are reviewed. Stocker is the daugther of John and Melissa Stocker of Winchester.

Rowe traveling to Italy

Dalton Rowe of Winchester will be among a group of students from Western Kentucky University that will be going to Italy later this summer.
The group, Imagewest, is a student-run full-service advertising and public relations agency at Western.
While in Italy, the students will we working with the Insitiute Lorenzo de’Medici on various projects including promotional videos and digital marketing plan for the institute.

Lexington Clinic scholarships

Two local students, William “Chad” Witzel and Rebecca Smith, were recent recipients of Lexington Clinic Foundation Fergus Hansen Memorial scholarships.
