Thomas Edward Townsend, 82, of Winchester, husband for 60 years to Elisabeth Flickinger Townsend, passed away Thursday at the Clark Regional Medical Center.
A native of Clark County, he was born April 15, 1930, to the late Courtney Lee and Nona Cox Townsend. He retired after over 30 years of employment from Sylvania Corp., he was a United States Army veteran, lifelong farmer and member of the Forest Grove Christian Church.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Tommy (Barbara) Townsend of Clark County; two sisters, Faye Hubbard and Ona Meeks, both of Clark County; two grandchildren, Tommy L. (Theresa) Townsend and Sean (Melissa) Townsend; one great-grandson, Peter, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Courtney Lloyd Townsend and Leonard Townsend.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a,m, at the Forest Grove Christian Church with Bro. Larry Beckard officiating. Visitation will be today from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Boonesboro Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy L. Townsend, Sean Townsend, Douglas Townsend, Jason Vaughn, Andy Vaughn and Shane Hubbard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Bennett Asher, Phillip Vaughn, Phillip Thomas, Jimmy Gay, Jim Adams, Howard Hubbard, Carl Wayne Ashcraft, Frank Carroll and Karl-Heinz Stay.
