William Curtis “Pete” Keene, 72, of Winchester, husband of 33 years to Harriette Lee Boyd Keene, passed away on Friday, March 15, 2013, at St. Joseph East Hospital.

Mr. Keene was born in Clark County, Ky., on Nov. 12, 1940, to the late William Edward “Buddy” and Helen Pauline Sosby Keene. He was retired from IBM after 25 years, and worked for Vincent Fister Moving and Storage for 11 years. He was a Scout leader for Troop 75 for 11 years, served as a U.S. Army sergeant during the Vietnam era and was a member of the Central Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Leigh Ann Keene Turner of Lexington, Christopher Curtis (Christie) Keene, Benjamin Aaron (Dana) Keene, and Audra Lee Keene (Josh) Hisle, all of Winchester; six grandchildren, Allison N. Hensley, Danielle P. Hensley, Keely Shay Keene, William Caleb Michael Hisle, Lucille Rose Keene and Weylin Nash Keene; two great-grandchildren, Audyn Sophia Hensley Coyle and Jacob Aiden Hensley Witt; two brothers, Ernest E. (Susan) Keene of Lexington and Carl W. Keene of Winchester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 20, at Scobee Funeral Home by the Rev. Roger Barkley Jr. Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Banks, Curtis Barkley, Jeremy Boyd, Harold Jordan, Jesse Keene and DeWayne Newby. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Eric Bradburn and staff, Eddie Newby, Bennie Barkley, Roger Barkley Jr., Keith Barkley, Curtis Barkley, Dennis Haggard, Stephen Banks and Clarence Taulbee.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, at Scobee Funeral Home.
