William R. Means “Bass Singer”, 80, of Winchester, husband of Novella Nolen Means, passed away on Thursday, July 19 at the St. Joseph Hospital East.
Mr. Means was born in Estill County on Sept. 21, 1931 to the late Clyde and Edna Burgher Means.
He worked at Rickard’s Seed Company for 45 years and was a member of the Winchester Church of the Nazarene and the C.B. Club.
He lived a full and active life, and always had a smile and a joke to give. He will be dearly missed by his many family members and countless friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Means (Lillian) and Ronald Means; his daughter, Connie Gilvin (Barney); seven grandchildren, Alana Surrena (Larry), Ryan Means (Tabitha), Misty Breeding (Shane), Jason Means, Joel Means, Erica Wake and Brittany Means; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Reid; four brothers, Donald Means, James Means, Hart Means and Manius Means; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Monday, July 23 at Scobee Funeral Home by Rev. Herman Gilley.
Burial will be in the Clarmont Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jason Means, Donald Wayne Means, James David Stone, Brandon Goldie, Mike Means and David Means.
Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Fields, Mike Flynn, Jimmy Means and Joey Edwards.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 22 at Scobee Funeral Home.
