Commonwealth Cleanup Week

Members of the George Rogers Clark High School Beta Club volunteered their time after school Wednesday to remove litter along Boone Avenue and Vaught Road. Marena Stone battled the strong winds trying to hold open a trash bag for Addison Bradley, left, and Ashton Stamper to put litter in, right photo. Also helping with the cleanup was Ashton Wasson, Megan Wasson, and Beta Club sponsor Connie Cobb. This week is being observed as Commonwealth Cleanup Week. Litter along Colby and Iron Works roads is also being removed with help from the state Highway Department, Clark County Detention Center inmates, volunteers, and Clark County Solid Waste Coordinator Gary Epperson and his staff.
