Elderly couple not hurt in home invasion in Clark County

An early morning burglary on Irvine Road left an elderly couple uninjured and sheriff’s deputies searching for the suspects.

Deputies were called to 14200 Irvine Road shortly after 2 a.m. today when the couple called 911.
According to the report at the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Janeth Sexton said she was watching TV¿in bed with headphones on when a man broke into her bedroom.

“A black man pushed the door in and took her purse,” Clark County Sheriff Berl Perdue Jr. said. “He never said a word to her.”

Perdue said Sexton tried to get out of bed, but the man held her down while he grabbed her purse and left. According to the report, the purse contained cash, credit cards and medical cards.

Sexton watched the man get into a white pickup truck outside, which was driven by another person. Perdue said the victim could not identify the person who entered her home.

Neither she nor her husband were injured, Perdue said.

The burglary was the first home invasion in the county in some time, he said.

“Right now, we don’t have any leads ... but we’ll keep digging,” Perdue said.
