Falling to time

A section of the old McEldowney building crashes down with a push from a lift operated by Iliz Hechaber Thursday, top photo. The building on South Main Street once was one of the most ornate buildings in Winchester, but has been deteriorating for many years. Workers Pollo Natanael, left, and Hechaber salvage one of the stone headers from above one of the windows, bottom photo. The building was once part of the Guerrant Mission Clinic and Hospital. The other building, owned by the Guerrants, is now the home of the Bluegrass Heritage Museum. Most, if not all, of the building, is expected to be down by this afternoon.
