MAPP to discuss obesity, substance abuse Friday

Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships will meet at 9 a.m. Friday  at the Clark County Cooperative Extension Office. The topics of discussion will be obesity and substance abuse.

Accelerated placement testing scheduled

All fifth grade students in the Clark County School System will take a qualifying test to determine accelerated placement in the middle school academic program for the upcoming school year on Tuesday, Feb. 26, during the school day at the school your child attends.

Students absent on that date may make up the test at either Clark Middle School from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, or at Conkwright Middle School from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28.

Board of Adjustments to meet Feb. 28

The Winchester-Clark County Board of Adjustments will meet at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, in the Commission Chambers of City Hall.

No public hearings are scheduled. The meeting is open to the public.

Shearer SBDM Council meeting Feb. 28

The Shearer Elementary School-based Decision-making Council will meet at 3 p.m. Feb. 26 in the conference room.

Extension Council meeting Feb. 28

The Clark County Extension Council will meet at noon  Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Clark County Extension Office.

Edelen to speak at Democratic Woman’s Club meeting

State Auditor Adam Edelen and Jennifer Palmer of Clark Community Services will be the featured speakers at the Democratic Woman’s Club of Clark County meeting on Monday, March 4. A potluck dinner will begin at 6 p.m. with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Clark County Public Library.

BOE special meeting set March 5

The Clark County Board of Education is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 6:30 p.m. March 5 at the Central Office.

Correction

In the story “Elementary school name to honor late educator,” the location of the new school was incorrectly identified as being on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The school is located on Mount Sterling Road.
