Kiwanis board to meet

The Winchester Kiwanis Club will meet Wednesday at noon at Taste of China for its monthly board meeting.

Road work at L&E Junction

L&E Junction Road will be closed from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. today through Thursday. Local traffic will be able to pass with some delay. Drivers can use Highway 15 or Highway 3368 as alternative routes.

Second Thursday program Oct. 11

The Bluegrass Heritage Museum’s Second Thursday Program will be this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. at 217 S. Main St. The program is free and refreshments will be served. Harry Smith from the Kentucky Humanities Council will portray Pvt. William Greathouse.

Rotary meeting this Friday

The Winchester Rotary Club will meet Friday at the Winchester Country Club at noon. Program host Bruce Manley will introduce Dan Jackson, manager of Calvary Christian Church’s new coffee shop, The Cairn.

Diabetes support group to meet

The Clark County Health Department and the Clark County Diabetes Coalition will sponsor a diabetes support group meeting Oct. 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Office, 1400 Fortune Drive. Veterans’ job fair in Lexington

There will be a career fair for transitioning military personnel Oct. 17 at Northeast Christian Church from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees should be prepared for interviews and bring proof of military service such as a DD214 or a VA or military ID, and an up-to-date resume. Democratic Rally Oct. 18

The 2012 Clark County Democratic Rally will be Thursday, Oct. 18, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Clark County Fish and Game Club. Dinner will be served. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Secretary of State Alison Lundergran Grimes will be the guest speaker.

Donations accepted for Community Services

Food and monetary donations for Clark County Community Services are now being collected at Batteries Unlimited, 1309 W. Lexington Ave. Donations are accepted Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Community Services, 30 Taylor Ave., and Batteries Unlimited. Donations will be collected from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays at CC’s Closet, located in the Community Services building.

Precinct workers needed

Anyone interested in becoming a precinct worker during the Nov. 6 general election should contact Clark County Clerk Anita Jones at 745-0280. Precinct workers must be registered voters.
