Panel seeks suggestions for names of two Clark County schools

During the next academic year, the Clark County Public School system will open the doors on two new schools.

While the high school students will be enjoying their brand new building just down the road, students at Conkwright Middle and Clark Middle will combine in the old George Rogers Clark High School building.
A new elementary school will also open its doors next fall.

The school system is asking for help with suggestions on the names of these two schools.

Suggestion boxes for both schools can be found at the Clark¿County Public Library and at the Clark County Public School Central Office. Boxes can also be found at Pilot View, Central and Fannie Bush.

Suggestions for the combined middle school building can be dropped off in boxes at Conkwright Middle and Clark Middle.

A link on the Clark County Board of Education’s website, clarkschools.net, can also be used to send in suggestions for both schools.

A committee will collect the suggestions and pick out three potential names and those will be presented to the Clark County Board of Education, which will make the final decision.

Barbara Disney, administrator of student support services, said she wanted to make clear these are just suggestions and not votes. The board will ultimately decide what to name the schools, but the committee wanted to collect suggestions from the community.
