Two George Rogers Clark High School graduates fared well at the Miss¿Kentucky pageant Saturday.
Annie Franklin, 19, was the third runner-up in her third appearance in the pageant, also winning the preliminary swimsuit award.
Brooke Powell, 18, won the Quality of Life Award for her work with the American Heart Association, and the Scholastic Scholarship, earning her $1,500 in scholarship money. This year was Powell’s first time competing in the pageant.
“Still wide eyed and jittery from last night, thanks to all who’ve been so supportive of me through this crazy ride,” Franklin tweeted Sunday.
Her mother, Mikka Franklin, is a former Miss Kentucky.
Powell also is the 2010 Miss Clark County Fair. She competed in Miss Kentucky as Miss Belle of Louisville.
Franklin has never competed in a pageant locally and has competed for Miss Kentucky as Miss Berea Area and Miss Monticello.
The 2012 Miss Kentucky winner was Jessica Danielle Casebolt of Pikeville.
