A Winchester man went to jail Monday night after he allegedly assaulted another person after being told to leave his home.
Winchester Police were called to 511 N. Main St. shortly after 6 p.m. Monday, according to police records. The resident, Marcus Haggard, told officers that he had allowed 24-year-old Donnie Marvin Brown and two others to stay with him, but told them to leave.
“It looks like there were some people staying at the victim’s residence and a fight broke out,” Winchester Police Capt. James Hall said. “The victim told Mr. Brown and a couple others he didn’t want them staying any more.”
Haggard was assaulted physically, including a broken nose, Hall said. It did not appear that weapons other than hands and feet were used. The injuries were not serious, he said.
Officers located Brown walking along Main Street. When officers asked who he was, Brown presented a fake driver’s license and said he was Nathaniel Smith, police said. The photo on the license, though, matched that on Brown’s license, and he was arrested.
Brown, of 112 Blueberry Lane, was charged with second-degree assault, theft of identity, giving an officer a false name, alcohol intoxication, non-payment of fines and failure to appear.
