A late night argument outside a Winchester apartment building led to one death and the arrest of another man on murder charges.
Andrew Williamson, 46, of 149 Winn Ave. Apt. 1, was arrested early this morning and charged with beating Joseph Jones to death with a baseball bat following a verbal argument, according to court documents.
Williamson was at the scene when police arrived around 11:30 p.m. Monday, Winchester Police Sgt. Tom Beall wrote in the arrest citation.
During questioning, Williamson said he went to his room after the argument, got the bat, and returned to the front porch of the building where Jones was sitting. Williamson told police that he hit Jones in the head several times with the bat. Once Jones fell out of the chair, Williamson told police he used a tarp to move the body to the back parking lot, where he tried to load the body in his pickup truck.
When police arrived at the scene, the body was lying behind the truck in the parking lot.
At press time, Williamson’s bond has not been set. He is in the Clark County Detention Center charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence.
Court records did not show any prior cases involving Williamson in Clark County.
