To the Editor,
As co-chair of this year’s American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Clark County, I would like to thank the community for their generosity and support. More than 400 participants on 30 teams joined in the event to raise $65,000 to help save lives and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by helping people get well and stay well, by finding cures, and by fighting back. Nearly 100 survivors walked the opening lap and inspired those currently battling cancer.
I would also like to thank the many Relay volunteers, committee members, teams and corporate sponsors who made this year’s event a success. A special thank you to the Winchester Police Department Explorer Post No. 2255 for doing a tremendous job helping with logistics. These polite, young volunteers worked tirelessly in the heat to carry equipment and supplies, arrange luminaries around the track, and provide assistance wherever needed. Their willingness to serve the community through the Relay for Life event is very much appreciated.
The 2013 Relay for Life of Clark County will be June 14. If you would like to help make next year’s event an even bigger success, please consider organizing or joining a team. Let’s continue to work toward the time we no longer hear the words “You have cancer.” Call 1-800-227-2345 or visit RelayForLife.org for more information.
