Don’t you just love this time of year if you are a basketball fan? Most everyone who knows me knows I love basketball. I should say, it gets pretty narrowed down to one team and that one team is my beloved Kentucky Wildcats. I will yell for Louisville if Kentucky is not playing them.
I had to watch the Wildcats in Cardinal country this weekend while I was visiting my daughter in Louisville. Friday night I tried to stay reserved, but after Louisville made it to the Final Four on Saturday, all I could think was ‘What if Louisville makes it to the Final Four and the Kentucky Wildcats don’t?’ I have to admit, by the time the UK game aired on Sunday, all my concern was gone, and I screamed and yelled like I normally do when the Cats play.
I could tell my son-in-law, Ted, was feigning excitement that UK had won. I noticed that once we gained the lead, Ted was missing in action for awhile from the couch. I secretly thought it was to try to compose himself so as not to show his disappointment.
Now for the big game this week on Saturday between the two Kentucky teams. I know how much the Louisville fans want to beat the Wildcats, but all I can tell them is the feeling is so mutual because, as bad as they want to beat the Cats, the Cats want to beat the Cards.
It is such an honor to be in the Final Four again in the NCAA tournament. I just hope this year we win it all. We have had one of the best groups of players, and I think the best quality of players we have ever had. My favorite player is Darius Miller, and I wish for a happy life for him since he made my day many times when he kept Kentucky in the game. He can get a team lifted and in sync better than anyone I know when he throws in a three-pointer just at the most needed time.
Then Anthony Davis, who is such an athlete and gentleman. I only wish all players would have to stay for two years before being allowed to move on to the NBA. However, with unbelievable amounts of money offered to you to do something you love to do, can you blame anyone for leaving their college team? One thing is for sure, Anthony Davis has given me enough memories to last a lifetime. To all the Kentucky team members, I wish the best, and hope there will be no injuries to anyone of the players on either team.
This time next week I hope it will be a Wildcat win over the Cardinals!
Now, on another note, I want to thank Jo Hunter for picking me another mess of wild greens. They were delicious. Jo is one of the sweetest ladies anywhere. She is one of the few people that I know who still picks wild greens. She is also one of the few people whose wild greens I would eat after they were picked. I still enjoy doing that hobby myself, but am so limited in being able to pick them. Thanks again, Jo Hunter.
