The George Rogers Clark softball team returned home in impressive fashion with an 11-1 rout of Paris in five innings Monday at Cardinal Heights.
The Lady Cardinals, who competed in the Play-It-Again Sports Tournament last weekend in Clarksville, Tenn., collected 10 hits against the Lady Hounds and opened the scoring with six runs in the first three innings. Clark crossed the plate with a score in the first inning and tacked on three in the second frame. Clark finished the scoring with five runs in the last two innings, including a three-run outburst in the fifth inning to force the mercy rule.

Clark was paced at the plate by Skye Skinner, who laced a triple, a double and drove in four runs. Skinner crossed the plate on an error after slapping the three-bagger.
Madison Norton followed Skinner with a single, a triple and three RBIs. Rebecca Strange added a single and a double and drive in three runs, while Meg Terrell followed with a pair of singles.
Kolbi Mitchell laced a double that scored a run and Sydney Anderson rounded out Clark’s hitting with a single.
Clark pitcher Whitney Conkwright went the distance and scattered five hits. Paris connected on five hits in the first three innings and scored their lone run on a pair of hits in the third frame, but Conkwright shut down the guests in the final two innings.
Conkwright collected seven strikeouts and issued just two walks and took the win.
The Lady Hounds committed three errors in the loss.
Clark is at Tates Creek this afternoon in Lexington.
